Blood on the Trail

While exploring the woods, it’s very infrequent but enormously disturbing finding blood on the trail. Was it a predator/prey encounter or perhaps something more sinister?

If you can imagine this scenario a couple of hundred years back, the implication might be a human skirmish rather than nature’s natural selection process...
