The Reckoning Awaits...

Ominous warnings

January 2022 - I am sure we've all heard the apocalyptic "prophecies" of the upcoming reckoning, i.e. Judgment Day. Staunch fundamentalists fervently believe in the Biblical end of days as foretold in the book of Revelation. Currently the COVID-19 globe pandemic has many Christian communities wondering if the Apocalypse has finally arrived. Certainly the ever-increasing cataclysmic events of death and destruction last year due to climate change may have us ALL wondering a bit if we are near the end!

About the Music

There was something very ominous sounding about the patch "PAD - 021 OctaveSynStr" I found on my Casio Digital piano. I started messing with some melodic motifs and "voila" - a new tune was birthed! Strings, "industrial" drums1 and a wide array of synths fill out the arrangement... Listen for the panning of many of the pads - headphones recommended.

The second section is purposely sounding bizarre as it was written using 12-tone serial techniques2. "Doomsday verses" from the Bible's book of Revelation are garbled in the background adding to the confusion. Finally an elongated recap of the first section re-enters at the end.

Revelation 16:9
The sun was allowed to scorch people with fire - they were seared by the intense heat but they refused to repent.

Revelation 16:18-19
Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. So tremendous was the quake, the cities of the nations collapsed.

Revelation 8:7
Then came hail and fire mixed with blood… hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.

Revelation 8:9
When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about a half an hour.
